August HorsesAssofthe Month

It was a close competition this month...there are so many liberal trolls to choose from all of a sudden.

However, the winner picked today to get into it with this posts' namesake, and that probably put him over the top.

The winner of the HorsesAssof theMonth for August 2008.....King Liberal.

Remember to congratulate him when encountered, but as always, don't tell him what for....

God bless....

Happy V-J Day

Yeah, I know....I used this picture for V-E Day too, but this photo was actually taken on V-J Day, August 14th, 1945.  With all this talk about the Russkies in Georgia, this anniversary has been completely overlooked, as was V-E Day.
This victory was not something to overlook.  The Germans were fierce and tough, but they wre civilized and for the most part treated enemy combatants civilly and with respect (that does not necessarily apply to the SS or Gestapo).
The Japanese, however, were another animal entirely (figure of speech, not ethnic slur). They fought under a warrrior code called bushido, which descended from the Samurai class of the preceding four centuries.  There was no such thing as an honorable surrender, and they regarded Allied prisoners who did so as subhuman and unworthy of respect.  In many cases, prisoners were killed for no reason, sometimes even for entertainment purposes.
Japanese troops were sent to occupy islands the higher command felt would need defending.  When this did not prove to be the case, they were simply abandoned.  Hundreds of thousand of troops were left without provision on Pacific atolls.  They were forced to turn to cannibalism, and regularly ate American and allied KIA (you don't see that in the John Wayne movies, do you?).
Therefore, I wish a very happy V-J Day to all, and a special salute to all who participated in this most brutal of conflicts.  This one must never be forgotten, and we can be grateful to God that it ended short of a boots-on-the-ground invasion.

God bless

Moving on from the Stalin Disappeared bin.....

A man is jogging by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the
lion's cage.

Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to
pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.

The jogger, runs to the cage and hits the lion
square on the nose with a powerful punch.

Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl,
and the jogger brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.

A New York Times reporter has watched the whole event.  The reporter
says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do
in my whole life.'

The jogger replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind
bars.  I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.'

The reporter says, 'Well,  I'm a journalist from the New York Times,
and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page ... So,
what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have? '

The jogger replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.'

The following morning the
jogger buys The New York Times to see if it
indeed brings news of his actions, and it
 reads, on the front page:

'U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS
DETAINED AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH'

What a world.....what a world.....
